Bromfield is a village and civil parish in the Allerdale district of Cumbria, England. It is about five miles north-east of Aspatria. Bromfield is located in the north of England, Cumbria. ==Toponymy== According to one source the origins of the name of Bromfield (Brounefeld) comes from the old English brun + feld, meaning ‘brown open land, or open land where broom grows’.〔Mills page 57〕
